The original cast iron gates built by J.U. Bugler & Co. who had their foundry in St. John's Lane Ashford. There were originally iron railings surrounding the Park. These, like those of many parks and those surrounding the Parish Churchyard, were removed in 1942 but were replaced two years later. They were again removed in the 1960s/70s.
Owing to a number of years of misude and abuse the toilets are in poor condition.
They are due to be replaced as part of the revitalisation of the Park

Watercress Fields were parts of Beaver and Watercress Farms, used for pasture and arable agriculture. They were purchased by Ashford Borough Council in 1979.
The name is derived from the growing of watercress in the area in the past.
