A. Jemmett Road

  • Create a high quality boundary treatment along Jemmett Road to strengthen the sense of arrival at Victoria Park
  • Retain good quality existing trees (inc Tila sp, Liriodendron sp and Platanus sp.
  • Selective removal of poor quality trees to regulate spacing and open up key long and medium views.
  • Proposed semi mature tree planting
  • Part of a long term management strategy to establish and maintain avenue tree planting.

B. Walnut Grove

  • Manage and selectively remove poor quality specimens to create open / flexible events space around fountain area

C. Hubert Fountain

  • Create a high quality landscape setting around the Grade II* listed Hubert fountain with semi mature fastigate tree planting.
  • Enhance and improve access into and through the space with new access paths with new avenue planting which builds on existing choice species.
  • Selectively remove trees to open views of the Hubert Fountain.
  • Introduce parkland trees to create long term landscape features and provide valuable shade / shelter within areas of grass

D. Mixed Avenues

  • Part of long term management strategy to reestablish the historic avenues tree planting
  • Selectively remove of poor quality specimens
  • Proposed semi mature tree planting

E. Community Hub

  • Creation of a modern community hub with flexible spill out and events space
  • Selective tree removal to enhance and improve views of the new community hub
  • Creation of a new rain garden to collect, store and attenuate surface water run off
  • Proposed semi mature tree planting

 

F. Children’s playground

  • Creation of a new children’s playground with seasonal tree planting for shade and shelter
  • Retain existing mature tree planting
  • Selective tree removal as part of the creation of the new play area
  • Proposed semi mature tree planting

G. Car Park

  • Extend and improve the existing car park
  • Selective tree removal to improve connections and access to the new community hub

H. Sensory Garden

  • Creation of a new Sensory Garden with clear views into and across the space
  • Proposed native hazel coppice planting
  • New access paths

I. Lime Avenues

  • Part of long term management to re-establish the historic lime avenue tree planting
  • Selective removal of poor quality specimens
  • Proposed semi mature tree planting

J. Field Boundary

  • Part of long term management to begin to re-establish the original native oak field boundaries
  • Selective removal of invasive shrubs & poor quality specimens
  • Proposed semi mature tree planting

K. River Margins

  • Proposed native tree planting as part of wider horticultural improvement works along the River Stour corridor
  • Create spaces along the river for education and relaxation
  • Hit and miss planting to mitigate impact on habitat

L. Adventure Play Area

  •  Coppice woodland as part of long term management plan
  • Selective removal of invasive shrubs & poor quality specimens
  • Proposed native semi mature tree planting around new play and wetland area
