Yesterday was a wildlife day in the park.
Whilst working hard to remove willow shoots from around the pond so that it doesn’t take over, two of our very hardworking conservation volunteers found a minute newt. As a result of this discovery each willow shoot had to be checked carefully for newts before the shoots were pulled out.
Meanwhile, some of our committee members handed out butterfly identification sheets as part of the national Big Butterfly Count. Quite a few commas, gatekeepers and large whites were spotted.
