The Friends of Victoria Park have received an award in recognition of all the work done in the last year to help create a Wilder Kent.
Kent Wildlife Trust’s Wilder Kent Awards recognise and reward the work schools, businesses and community groups are doing to help create a Wilder Kent. By taking positive actions to restore nature, they help to create a more climate-resilient county and provide a home for wildlife. Their action benefits us locally and help tackle the global environmental threats we all face.
The Silver Award was presented to the Friends at a special ceremony at Canterbury University on Saturday, 20th July, hosted by TV presenter and producer of Talk on the Wild Side podcast, Rob Smith and follows a Bronze Award presented to the Friends last year.
The event, which was supported by the Marsh Charitable Trust, saw a record number of schools, businesses, community groups and charities recognised this year, with 87 organisations shortlisted and their efforts resulting in a staggering 120,000 people in the county receiving the nature benefits from the actions taken by the entrants.
